Ameena Green

Ameena Green: Synthesis and Straight Girls

Two scripted productions gave Green substantial character roles. Her accounts of their preparation describe the work behind the finished performances.

Taking the lead in Synthesis

Ricky Greenwood directed Synthesis, which premiered in 2025. Green was first booked for a supporting role. A casting change moved her into the lead one day before filming, leaving little time to learn the script.

She described preparing several pages of dialogue and working opposite Seth Gamble. Chloe Foxxe, Gizelle Blanco and Isaiah Maxwell were also in the cast. Her character is an artificial intelligence within the film’s fictional story.

Learning from the cast

In her announcement about Synthesis, Green praised Gamble’s preparation and Foxxe’s support during the production. Her account discusses learning through work with experienced colleagues.

The role followed her move to Spiegler in 2024. Its announcement appeared that December, before the film’s 2025 premiere. The announcement and release belong to different stages of the production.

Shannon in Straight Girls

Casey Calvert wrote and directed Straight Girls. Green plays Shannon, while Ophelia Fae plays Ava. Calvert selected the performers after watching their self-taped auditions.

Bryn Pryor, also known as Eli Cross, shot and edited the film. The production used the stage of the Elysian Theater in Los Angeles. Green arrived knowing her lines; the director described limited rehearsal time.

Returning to the theatre

Green and Fae attended an August 2026 screening at the Elysian Theater, returning to the venue where they had filmed. Green said it was her first experience watching her own work with an audience.

She described feeling nervous before the screening and proud afterward. The account records her response to a completed film, separate from the fictional experiences of Shannon.
